Cartoner

Main function

The cartoner is an automated secondary packaging machine that takes flat cartons (“blanks”) and sequentially performs carton forming, product loading, and carton closing/sealing operations in order to produce a final package ready for shipment or downstream operations. It can be configured in horizontal mode (side product loading) or vertical mode (top loading) and may be manual, semi-automatic, or fully automatic depending on the desired level of integration.

Typical applications

The cartoner integrates into production lines where rigid carton packaging is required after primary processes (filling, sealing, inspection):
· Secondary packaging of wrapped products (e.g., flow wrap, pouches, jars, trays) into rigid cartons
· Packaging on high-speed automated lines with upstream and downstream synchronization
· Multi-format and multi-lane applications using adapted feeding and infeed systems
· Usage configurations:
· Horizontal cartoner for side-loaded products
· Vertical/top-load cartoner for sensitive products or top-loaded applications

Key benefits

· Fully automated or modular operation: Semi-automatic to fully automated operation options, including integrated “Form-Pack-Seal” systems for continuous lines.
· High format flexibility: Design adaptable to various carton sizes, with fast format changeover to reduce downtime.
· High and efficient production speeds: Machines capable of reaching competitive industrial speeds (e.g., up to 320 cpm depending on configuration).
· Operational reliability: Mechanical architecture and PLC control designed for multi-shift industrial environments.
· Ergonomic and user-friendly integration: Intuitive HMI interfaces, easy adjustments, and machine safety compliant with industrial standards.
