Conveyors & Handling Systems

Retractable Conveyor for Transfer, Rejection and Line Access

Main function

The retractable conveyor is a modular conveying system that can be extended or retracted in-line to support reject operations, product deposition, transfers, or controlled passage during the normal operation of a conveyor line.
This type of conveyor moves manually, pneumatically, or motorized on rails or sliding guides, allowing the conveying length to be adjusted without interrupting the main product flow. It is particularly useful for maximizing operational efficiency, enabling dynamic product separation, and clearing critical passage areas along the production line.

Typical applications

· Reject of non-conforming products: The retractable section moves under a defective product to redirect it toward a reject bin or secondary line.
· Precise load placement: Allows products to be deposited onto a platform, cart, or secondary conveyor at an exact location.
· Transfer to multiple lines: Can transport products toward different processing lines or zones depending on the extension or retraction position.
· Automatic stacking: By retracting the end section, products drop onto a cart or support to create a repeated automated stacking process.
· Service access passages: Physically clears space by retracting the conveyor section, allowing personnel access or cross-traffic handling without stopping the line.

Key benefits

· Programmability and flexibility: The ability to quickly adjust the conveyor length (manual or automated) allows multiple functions to be performed within the same machine or production line without requiring additional fixed equipment.
· Reduced manual intervention: Enables automated reject and deposition operations without stopping production, reducing human error and downtime.
· Integration with existing conveyor lines: Retractable conveyors can easily integrate with existing conveyor systems, adding functionality without requiring a complete line redesign.
· Improved operational efficiency: By enabling rapid configuration changes, they optimize floor space utilization and free critical areas as required by production needs.
