Conveyors & Handling Systems
Z-type Elevator Conveyor
Main function
The Z-type elevator conveyor, also referred to as a vertical conveyor, is designed to elevate products from one level to another while ensuring continuous and controlled transfer within an automated production line.
Its Z-shaped configuration combines a horizontal infeed section, a vertical elevation section, and a discharge section while minimizing the required floor footprint.
This type of conveyor is used when it is necessary to change the conveying level (upward or downward) without interrupting product flow while maintaining the stability and integrity of the transported products.
Typical applications
· Elevation of raw/bulk or packaged products between two production levels
· Vertical transfer between processing, inspection, or packaging areas
· Feeding machines located at elevated positions or mezzanine levels
· Integration into automated lines requiring optimized floor space utilization
· Continuous flow management where an inclined conveyor would be too long or inefficient
Key benefits
· Space optimization: The Z configuration allows vertical elevation within a compact floor footprint, ideal for space-constrained industrial environments.
· Continuous and controlled transport: Unlike batch-based lifting systems, the elevator conveyor provides continuous product flow that can be synchronized with upstream and downstream equipment.
· Product stability during elevation: The conveyor design (belt, modular belt, or product-specific conveying surface) ensures secure product handling during elevation, minimizing the risk of product drops or misalignment.
· Easy integration with existing lines: Can be integrated with horizontal conveyors, sorting modules, or accumulation systems, with centralized PLC control.
· Robust and durable solution: Designed for continuous industrial operation with proven mechanical design and standard components that simplify maintenance.
